The Missing Link

Men/Husband/Father and Christians are synonymous; as most young men are not taught how to be a man, husband or father—the principles of having integrity, the importance of faithfulness or the admiration in which a child should be raised. Similar, most new converts are not taught how to live a lifestyle pleasing to God. Their given the promises—without the understanding of the commitment. ~KP

Pray Regular

People who are serious about something always make room for it in their schedules. Those who neglect to schedule a regular time for prayer—are not really serious. Without regularity prayer will never become a habit. If we want to live in God’s presence, we need to shut the world out and tune in to God at least once a day, every day, without fail. Focus on God—look at Him, talk to Him, listen to Him, sit quietly before Him. ~KP

Busyness

The archenemy of spiritual authenticity is busyness, which is closely tied to something the Bible calls worldliness—getting caught up with this society’s agenda, objectives and activities to the neglect of walking with God. ~KP

Accountability

An important place to begin our training is with the discipline of accountability. This to be done with someone who will regularly hold you accountable for your moral life, asking you hard questions. If you are married, ideally you should use your spouse, but I also recommend another person, one who will give you no quarter in sensual matters. You need someone of the same gender who will understand your sensuality from the inside out — someone you can be completely honest with, to whom you can confess temptations and attractions. You need someone who will help you toe the mark and keep your soul faithful to God. Mutual accountability is the ideal. In this connection I think of a certain salesman who regularly maintains accountability via phone contact with other Christian salesmen, and even works at scheduling trips to cities at the same time they will be there.
