Opposition to The Gospel
Paul wrote to the Thessalonians speaking of all the strong opposition that he came up against for just telling the gospel. Maybe this is one of the reasons those who claim to have authority over teaching the gospel has done such a great job in watering down the gospel. They are afraid of the opposition they will encounter if the simple gospel was told and lived out in there everyday lives. It is much easier to walk in the middle than it is to walk on the edge. Too many Christians are driving in the middle of the road and one day they are going to had that head on wreck in which Creflo Dollar alluded to in his rebuke to Eddie Long’s members leaving his church. Only there is no insurance to cover such a wreak in which a man deliberately drives into immediate danger. Speak the truth as it is written and you will receive opposition, even from your own.
Renew Your Mind
What you think determines what you do. “The mind is a terrible thing to waste.” No kidding. But mere knowledge isn’t going to remedy the situation. A lot of brilliant people have done some pretty stupid stuff. Our minds don’t need more information to get right. Our minds need transformation. The only One who can enter our hearts and transform our minds is God. Fancy philosophers can’t do it. Self-help gurus can’t do it. Our hard work can’t do it. God must change our minds in every detail (don’t expect it to happen overnight–it takes time). At the same time, you aren’t a passive part of the mind renewal process. First, you must invite Him to do His work. Then, once you have “learned the truth that is in Jesus…there must be a spiritual renewal of your thoughts and attitudes” (Ephesians 4:21,23). But let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Romans 12:2
Humblest a Lost Art
It’s important for us not to misinterpret yourselves…as people who are bringing goodness to God—too often in the church too much inference is given on what we are doing in church…and not what God wants to do in our daily lives—the only accurate way to understand ourselves is by what God is and by what he does for us…not by what we think we are and do for him. ~KP
