No Religion Necessary

God doesn’t give us rules for how to live; He gives us reasons for how to live.

You probably know a lot of people who want nothing to do with religion. Don’t be too quick to criticize them for their attitudes; they might have the right idea.

God doesn’t want your life occupied with a lot of religious hoopla that you perform out of tradition without any sense of personal significance. If your “religion” is just a bunch of “do’s and don’ts,” then God isn’t interested in it. (And maybe that’s why your spiritual life has seemed so dry and unfulfilling.)

God wants your genuine faith, not your meaningless rituals. He wants you to respond to Him out of love, not out of compulsion, or guilt, or habit. He wants you to enjoy the freedom of faith, without dreading rigid rules.

Stop doing “religious” activities simply because you feel you have to. Instead, take pleasure in your liberty to worship God as a natural expression of your love for Him.

“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

  1. So are you saying in this blog, that belief in 1 GOD is ok? And if so, does ANY religion really matter?

  2. Kenny Pittman

Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live. 1 Corinthians 8:6

Yes, our belief as Christians there is only one God.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27

Christian faith gives us new perspective on religion. It no longer is a ritual kind of thing, but now is seen to be a response to others that mirrors the concern of the God who is Father to humankind. Christianity is a lifestyle we should live and not a religion for us to practice.

Anyone who sets himself up as “religious” by talking a good game is self-deceived. This kind of religion is hot air and only hot air.
