Play By The Rules
Don’t run with the ball unless you know the direction of the goal. Imagine if each of the players in a baseball game played according to their own rules. The pitcher might decide that the strike zone goes from the forehead to the ankles. The batter may decide that it takes twenty-two strikes to make an out. A base runner may decide to dispense with third base because it is more efficient to run from second base to home plate. The game would never work because you would have total chaos. If you want to play the game, you can’t change the rules.
You can’t change the rules for following God, either. You don’t get to decide what “feels” right to you; God isn’t going to change His divine plan to accommodate your whims. God already has a rule book, and He is anxious for you to learn His game plan.
Don’t sit on the sidelines waiting to play. Get into the game and play the way God wants you to.
Remember that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize. You must also run in such a way that you will win.
