Slow the Pace

Beware the barrenness of a busy life. The Christian life is about relationships, not accomplishments. If you need proof of this fact, just consider that believers are referred to as brothers and sisters in Christ, and that we are called part of God’s family. Although we enjoy the friendship of others, most of us don’t have the time to develop meaningful relationships outside of our immediate family members. We are scurrying back and forth to work, helping out with the committees, and doing the errands–in other words, we are occupied with accomplishments.

God is love. If you want to reflect God in your life, then you, too, will need to show love. Love must be displayed in the context of relationships with other people. (Loving your job, or sports, or shopping doesn’t count.) Carve some time out of your busy schedule to develop some meaningful friendships.

Stop loving this evil world and all that it offers you, for when you love the world, you show that you do not have the love of the Father in you. 1 John 2:15
