With God’s Help

God does not help us because we deserve it; He helps us because He loves us.

If God waited to help us until we deserved it, we would be in big trouble. The cold, hard fact of the matter is that not one single person has ever deserved God’s help. Hey, this isn’t us talking. The Bible is very clear about this (Romans 3:12). Besides that, no one is asking for God’s help (Romans 3:11).

Wait a minute. People ask God for help all the time, don’t they? Not really. They ask for physical stuff, they ask for health, and they ask for help when they’re in trouble, but they don’t ask for help where they really need it–in their spiritual lives. That’s where we all need God, who is the only One who can help us spiritually.

The good news is that God helps us despite ourselves. And He helps us because it’s in His nature to help. He helps us because He loves us.

“You keep your promises and show unfailing love to all who obey you and are eager to do your will.” 2 Chronicles 6:14
