Sharing and Holding Back
Share your blessings with others, but keep your whining to yourself. Many of us are guilty of griping and complaining. We try to disguise our whining by categorizing it as “sharing prayer requests,” be we are really just looking for the opportunity to do a little groaning and grumbling.
There is nothing wrong with legitimate prayer requests. God wants us to share our prayer concerns with other believers. But don’t dump your self-pity on someone else. When you do that, you’re only looking for attention and sympathy. Your attitude needs to be changed more than your circumstances, and you are the only one who has control over that.
Whenever you are tempted to unload your gripes on someone else, resist the urge. Instead, think of what you can say that will be encouraging. They’ll benefit from what you have to say (and it will be good for you to dwell on positive things).
Though they have been going through much trouble and hard times, their wonderful joy and deep poverty have overflowed in rich generosity. 2 Corinthians 8:2
