What Motivates You?
Let your primary motivation be the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit. The advertising industry knows you very well. Billions of dollars have been invested in determining what impressions will motivate you to spend your hard-earned dollars. The television ads are written and directed to catch your attention. The magazine advertisements use the images that will capture your imagination. Whether it is the clothes you wear, or the car you drive, or a brand of deoderant, advertisers have determined that you are motivated by your self-image.
Self-image shouldn’t be your motivating force if you belong to God. Your motivation should be to please and honor God (although that will never be one of the multiple-choice answers on a marketing survey). Don’t get caught as part of the herd that moves according to the dictates of fashion and style. Let God be the image that determines your choices.
“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth.” John 16:13
