Spiritual Discernment

Seeing is better than looking. Listening is better than hearing. Doing is better than talking. There are a lot of advantages to being a Christian. The biggest advantage is that you know you are going to spend eternity with God. But being a Christian is more than having an eternal fire insurance policy. It means you can live your life with a clearer understanding of yourself and others (it’s called discernment).

As a Christian, you have spiritual discernment, thanks to the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life (1 Cor. 2:12). Now, it’s possible for someone without God to be wise in the ways of the world, but when it comes to spiritual matters, they are in a fog (1 Cor. 2:14). See what an advantage you have?

As long as you ask God for wisdom–and then you really see, listen, and do what is right–you will accomplish amazing things for God.

For it you just listen and don’t obey, it is like looking at your face in a mirror but doing nothing to improve your appearance. James 1:23
