Talk About Others

People who talk a lot about themselves seldom want to hear what others have to say.

They say the sweetest sound we hear is the sound of our own voice, not because we like how our voice sounds, but because we like to hear ourselves talk. If we didn’t, why would we talk so much?

You already know all about yourself, so why would you want to talk about yourself, except to impress others? What you don’t realize is that the only thing you impress them with is your pride.

When you talk to others, talk about others (and we’re not talking gossip here). Ask them questions. Find out what they think and what makes them tick. Don’t worry about stating your opinion. When you show interest in others, others find you interesting, and it’s only a matter of time before they want to know what makes you tick.

“For the proud will be humbled, but the humble will be honored.” Luke 18:14
