What Happens In You
What happens in you is more important than what happens to you.
We give a lot of attention to the changing events of our lives. We are constantly thinking about the next job, an upcoming vacation, or going to that new restaurant. You might even have one of those calendars the size of a billboard stuck to your refrigerator to keep track of family activities. Monitoring changes in your schedule is important, but it is not as important as monitoring the changes in your heart.
Don’t forget that changes should be happening inside of you as well. We aren’t talking about gastrointestinal activities; we’re referring to the strengthening of your character as you grow closer to God. Are you monitoring your progress? Do you notice that your thoughts and actions are becoming more like what God wants them to be?
Spend as much time today thinking about your character as you spend planning your calendar.
The Lord has already told you what is good, and this is what he requires: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8
