Knowing God

Knowing God takes tremendous effort, but the reward is great.

Spiritual growth is not a matter of trying harder. You can’t force spirituality. You can’t make it happen. It comes as the result of training–developing habits of godliness that are pursued daily.

The spiritual disciplines of prayer and Bible reading are part of the training process. Don’t view them as daily chores that must be endured (and that can be checked off you “to do” lists as soon as they are over). Consider them as an opportunity–a privilege, really–that allows you to come closer into God’s presence and dialogue with Him.

As with any training program, the initial stages are the toughest. But just as you begin to make the activities a regular part of your routine, you will start to realize the benefits of your diligence.

There is no greater reward than knowing God. He is worth your effort.

Jesus replied, “Your problem is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God.” Mark 12:24
